When examined from a skewed profile angle in good light, you’ll find a perfect way to witness the popularity of green sapphire crystals. From the front, the crystals tone down the sunburst blue dial somewhat, but turn it slightly to one side in the sun, and a magical green ring surrounds the dial, giving the watch one of the chief rebellious cues. The green halo is the result of the crystal being raised slightly above the contours of the polished bezel in a different way than other Rolexes. It appears to be cut at the exact same slope as the bezel itself, almost like the bottom two levels of a step pyramid.
